IIChE

  • Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) is the premier professional organization furthering the development of chemical, petrochemical and allied industries with respect to R&D, design and engineering, educational programmes and consultancy. It also provides a platform for interacting with other disciplines of science and engineering

  • IIChE was founded on 18 May 1947 in a room of Jadavpur University, Kolkata, with 30 members. Today, with around 15,000 members on its roll, the Institute has emerged as the apex professional body of chemical engineering professionals in India. The activities of the Institute are spread across the country through its 33 Regional Centres and 58 Student Chapters, with the HQ located at Jadavpur University campus.

  • IIChE promote activities by organizing meetings, conferences and seminars; arranging workshops, refresher courses and counseling sessions; promoting research; guiding chemical engineering students in career planning; and initiating any other activities which are of social, technical and professional relevance to their members. IIChE also confer awards, prizes and scholarships.

  • IIChE conducts the Associate Membership Examination since 1960. Government of India and most of the public and private sector undertakings recognize it for recruitment to superior posts and services, equivalent to degree in Chemical Engineering. Leading universities and institutes in the country recognizes it for admission to M Tech courses.

  • The Institute publishes a quarterly journal, the Indian Chemical Engineer (ICE), which has been the Institute's main organ since 1959.

  • The Institute is recognized by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization.

  • The Institute maintains close association with number of professional bodies at home and abroad. MOU with AIChE and IChemE.

IIChE NRC

  • IIChE Northern Regional Center is one of the oldest serving centers for IIChE. IIChE (NRC) has conducted annual sessions on 1972 (Silver Jubilee Session), 1997 (Golden Jubilee Session) and  2005, all in collaboration with IIT Delhi. It got Best Center Award for several time, as recent as 2011. It has about 350 active members in its roll. It has its own office at a sprawling campus at C-27, Qutab Institutional Area. The geographical area includes Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Noida, Panipat and  Sonepat.

  • IIChE NRC is in its own Golden Jubilee building. The Golden Jubilee building has

  • 120 sq. mts. Basement suitable for exhibitions, shows etc.

  • Well-groomed front and back lawns, which could be used for hosting tea / lunches / dinners during seminars, training program etc

  • Well stocked Library with 1500+ books and several periodicals and journals.

  • NRC also provides 20 Golden Jubilee Scholarship for B Tech/ M Tech students (Chem Engg) of government colleges, Rs 25,000 each.

CHEMCON

  • The 72nd Annual Session of IIChE and Indian Chemical Engineering Congress, CHEMCON 2019, will be held during 16 to 19 December 2019 in New Delhi. It will be organised by Northern Regional Centre, IIChE and Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT, Delhi in association with international partners. The Central Theme of CHEMCON 2019 will be ‘Advances in Chemical Engineering for Industrial Applications’.

  • The Annual Session of the Institute, popularly known as the Indian Chemical Engineering Congress (CHEMCON), is the most important event in the calendar of the IIChE. Held every December at one of its centers, the four-day CHEMCON features a host of events, which include memorial lectures, plenary lectures, seminars, symposia, panel discussion, exhibitions, etc. To the Indian chemical engineering fraternity in the country and abroad, CHEMCON offers the most attractive platform, ensuring four days of intensive interface with the best of brains - national and international - in chemical engineering and allied fields.

  • IIChE is organizing SCHEMCON (Students' CHEMCON) annually since 2005 to encourage the chemical engineers of tomorrow to come out with innovative and inventive ideas as well as to boost their self-confidence.

IIT Delhi

  • The Congress will be held in the campus of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. IIT Delhi is connected to the airport and the railway stations (New Delhi, Delhi and Anand Vihar)  and is located on the Yellow line (Hauz Khas Station) and Magenta line (IIT Station) of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.

  • New Delhi, the capital city of India is a fusion of the ancient and the modern culture. Standing along the west end of the Gangetic Plain, the capital city unwinds a picture rich with culture, architecture and human diversity seeped in history. The monuments, museums, galleries, gardens and cultural centres symbolize its glory. Old Delhi takes one through the labyrinth streets with a formidable mosque, forts and monuments, whereas New Delhi has a mesmerizing charm with spacious avenues under the shade of beautifully lined trees and imposing government buildings. Excursions of interest are possible to Agra, the city of Taj Mahal and Jaipur, the Pink city.

  • New Delhi is personified by its hospitable people famous for their spirit of service. It is a shopper’s paradise with shopping malls and emporia from various states offering artistic handicraft at affordable prices.

  • The climate in Delhi during December is quite pleasant with day temperature ranging between 15 and 20 degree Celsius.
